It was Joan's last acting appearance. It is a popular belief that Anne did not want to play Laurie Strode for John Carpenter's Halloween, a film from 1978. Jaime Lee Curtis was given the part. Carpenter claims that the actress was on his list for the role, but that she rejected it. Anne says she does not recall ever being contacted or given the part by John Carpenter. There is a chance that her agent turned it down on her behalf, without notifying her. Glen Larson initially selected her to play Battlestar Galactica in 1978. He wrote a rough script. The character was weak enough to convince her to take on the part. Glen then wrote a script for her that featured a strong character called Sheba. She accepted the Living Legend's script after she read its first pages. The show ran for just one season. She was in Joyride (1977), a film that she co-starred in and acted in with Desi Arnaz Jr. Melanie Griffith, Robert Carradine.
